Genesis 22:1-18
After all the storms that Abraham had to endure before his promised son was born one could imagine the immense love he held in his heart for this child whom he'd waited for so long. Then God told Abraham to offer Isaac as a burnt offering to Him.
I can only begin to imagine the thoughts plaguing Abraham on the way up that mountain..how difficult and trying the journey was. Still harder as he prepared the alter with his trusting child at his side..and yet the hardest part I know had to be when Abraham raised that knife to sacrifice Isaac, who I doubt was as calm as we see in Sunday school coloring pages...
The journey is always difficult, those precious moments right before the breakthrough are the climax of pain...when following Abba's will however, He always provides-no matter how the outcome may appear.
